Last thursday I received my first Moomin card! I have some stamps of this character but did not have a card until now. I think it is a very nice illustration :) The card has travelled a distance of 1,532 kms in 4 days and comes from Finland
. Funny that the stamps is exactly the same as the card! I'm curious how other moomin cards look like!
Via the Netherlands RR - Group 58 I received this UNESCO card from China
send by Liuc. The card shows the Wulingyuan Scenic Area; in the middle of China.
"A spectacular area stretching over more than 26,000 ha in China's Hunan Province, the site is dominated by more than 3,000 narrow sandstone pillars and peaks, many over 200 m high. Between the peaks lie ravines and gorges with streams, pools and waterfalls, some 40 caves, and two large natural bridges. In addition to the striking beauty of the landscape, the region is also noted for the fact that it is home to a number of endangered plant and animal species."
A day after I received my first card from Xiru, I received my second as well. This time via the Slavic Countries RR - Group 56. The card comes from Brasil
and shows us a different part of Sao Paulo than the first card. This is the park 'Ibirapuera'. It looks like a beautiful park! This card has completed this group for me!
I have bought some Miffy card a few weeks ago and I was happy when I discoverd the Miffy/something else tag so I could send them away and receive something back from my wishlist. I received a very beautiful card from Japan. It is an UNESCO world heritage site; the Kinkaku-Ji Temple in Kyoto! It was send by Yamimi. Thanks for this beautiful card.
"Built in A.D. 794 on the model of the capitals of ancient China, Kyoto was the imperial capital of Japan from its foundation until the middle of the 19th century. As the centre of Japanese culture for more than 1,000 years, Kyoto illustrates the development of Japanese wooden architecture, particularly religious architecture, and the art of Japanese gardens, which has influenced landscape gardening the world over."
Last week I discover 'tagging'. A nice way to exert an influence on what kind of cards you get! I bought some Miffy cards a few weeks ago and I saw a 'Miffy/something Else tag'. Because I know Miffy very well (her 'father' is the Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna), I decided to join with my Miffy cards! As soon as I tagged someone who lives Japan, JaniD from Germany
tagged me back. Today I received a very nice and lovely card from 'Lillyfee'
Lillyfee is a childrensbook illustration. There are movies of this nice character as well. I did not know Lillyfee until I got this card. She is lovely, isn't she? The card has some sparkles as well, but you can not see this on the photograph. And... I love the cute ladybird! This card has made me smile today :D
I have updated my send map and received map. My UNESCO Collection is updated as well! Besides the Round Robins I particpate in, the tags I did last week and the lottery I won, is it very empty in my mailbox. My officials are traveling mostly very long. Last week, a few officials reached there destination and I have send now officials to 10 different countries! Denmark was the 10th country! The last official I received was on 15th may...that is almost 10 days ago!!! It is very weird that there is such a long time between some officials sometimes.. Like this:I have traveling at least 4 officials al the time but I do not understand the system anymore ;) Sometimes I receive a lot and then 10 days nothing...
Today I was lucky! I have received five beautiful cards today! No officials but two Round Robins, two tags and one lottery. Thank you all!!! I'm a little bit busy with my study so I'm not sure if I have time to update this blog, the send/received maps and my UNESCO collection today...But I promise, at the end of the week I have updated everything!
Sorry I'm very busy right now so I didn't got the time to update this blog. I received this beautiful card last week from France
from MICH29 via The Netherlands RR - Group 58 UNESCO. It is my first UNESCO site from France and it shows the Tower of Vauban. It is a recent addition to the world heritage list because its on the list since 2008. I like the simplicity of this card :)
"Fortifications of Vauban consists of 12 groups of fortified buildings and sites along the western, northern and eastern borders of France. They represent the finest examples of the work of Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban (1633-1707), a military engineer of King Louis XIV. The serial property includes towns built from scratch by Vauban, citadels, urban bastion walls and bastion towers. There are also mountain forts, sea forts, a mountain battery and two mountain communication structures. This property is inscribed as bearing witness to the peak of classic fortifications, typical of western military architecture. Vauban also played a major role in the history of fortification in Europe and on other continents until the mid-19th century."You can find an update of my UNESCO Cards collection here.
