22 July 2012 - GB-343309 - Nottingham

In the beginning of July I wrote that I do not often receive card from the United Kingdom and guess what.... 3 weeks later, I received another card from this country! It has traveled a distance of 383 km in 7 days. It shows us the City of Bath, an UNESCO site. Three years ago, I also got a card of this lovely city. And this one is special because it is decorated as a stamp.

Founded by the Romans as a thermal spa, Bath became an important centre of the wool industry in the Middle Ages. In the 18th century, under George III, it developed into an elegant town with neoclassical Palladian buildings, which blend harmoniously with the Roman baths. Source: http://whs.unesco.org

A lovely card from Russia . It has traveled a distance of 2,400 km in 22 days. I have never heard of this city. It shows us the Borshev's House. 

22 July 2012 - DE-1467845 - Bad Belzig

Actually this is number 50 of Germany on my blog. It is my 36th official. It has traveled a distance of 564 km in 7 days. I'm happy because it is a new UNESCO site for my collection. It shows us the Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz.

The Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz is an exceptional example of landscape design and planning of the Age of the Enlightenment, the 18th century. Its diverse components - outstanding buildings, landscaped parks and gardens in the English style, and subtly modified expanses of agricultural land - serve aesthetic, educational, and economic purposes in an exemplary manner. Another "rare" country for me in my mailbox this month. This time Belarus . It has traveled a distance of 1,705 km in 8 days. It shows us the Mother of God of Scapular Church.

1 July 2012 - GB-339218 - London

I do not receive very often cards from the United Kingdom . This is my 8th card from the UK and I receive most of the time nice map cards. This map is actually a world atlas. Very funny card. It has traveled a distance of 308 km in 3 days. And to be honest, I registered this one on a Sunday and we do not receive mail on Sundays. So that means that this card needed only 2 days to get to my mailbox!!! Pretty soon!! 

30 June 2012 - RU - 1046064 - Moscow

This month is Russia month! It is also my third card of Russia in 3 months. It has traveled a distance of 2,205 km in 10 days. It shows us the beautiful Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. 

10 June 2012 - RU-937100 - Moscow

No. 15 from Russia !!! It is a very old fashioned postcard and I like it. It has traveled in 2,205 km in 48 (!) days! Pretty long. The card shows us the UNESCO site: St. Basil Cathedral. Although I have many postcards of this site, it is still beautiful. I have visited it in Moscow in 2009.

Inextricably linked to all the most important historical and political events in Russia since the 13th century, the Kremlin (built between the 14th and 17th centuries by outstanding Russian and foreign architects) was the residence of the Great Prince and also a religious centre. This lovely card is from Taiwan . It has traveled 9509 kms in 14 day. It shows us the beautiful Tarako Gorge. It is in the eastern part of Taiwain.

A cute card from Japan ! It's beautiful, isn't it? It has traveled a distance of 9,330 km in 9 days. It is already favorite a 11 times!

4 June 2012 - PL - 442574 - Olsztyn

I was happy when I found a card from Poland in my mailbox. I have been three times to this country including a big round trip of 3 weeks and I like it! This card has traveled a distance of 1,103 kms in 14 days. It shows us Olsztyn. A part of Poland I have never been to. It is next to the beautiful lakes of Mazury.

31 Msy 2012 - TR - 98167 - Istanbul

When I found this card in my mailbox, I was happy because I thought it was a new country for me!! But in the end, I discovered that I already received a card from Turkey in January 2010. It has traveled a distance of 2,240 kms in 10 days. It shows us Pamukkkale, which means 'cotton castle'. It is also an UNESCO site. And this is my first UNESCO site from Turkey!! :) 

Deriving from springs in a cliff almost 200 m high overlooking the plain, calcite-laden waters have created at Pamukkale (Cotton Palace) an unreal landscape, made up of mineral forests, petrified waterfalls and a series of terraced basins. At the end of the 2nd century B.C. the dynasty of the Attalids, the kings of Pergamon, established the thermal spa of Hierapolis. This card was sent from the Netherlands . It took 5 days before it reached my mailbox after traveling 75 kms. It's a card from "Kinderpostzegels". Every year, children from 11-12 years are going to sell stamps and cards for the charity. 

16 April 2012 - US-1628480 - North Aurora

I received this card last month from the USA . It has traveled a distance of 6,652 km in 9 days. It shows is the city of Annapolis. A pity that I didn't got the change to make a picture of the back because there is a lovely stamp of Mark Twain on it!

15 April 2012 - UA - 249754 - Kiev

I don't receive cards from Ukraine very often. So I was very surprised when I found an envelop from Ukraine in my mailbox . In the envelope, were two cards. On of lovely orange juice and the other one from Ukraine. So nice :) It has traveled a distance of 1,830 km in 13 days! The sender recommend me the Twilight series. I have never read them but I hear nice reviews about those books!

15 April 2012 - RU-859823 - Moscow

Well, I always say this when I receive a card from Moscow, Russia . I have been there in 2009 and I have seen all those highlights on this card. It is a beautiful Moscow by Night picture. It has traveled a distance of 2,205 km in 28 days.



The sender of this card also recommend a lot of books :) I should write them down on my "books to read list" but I'm wondering if I can find them in the Netherlands. Some of those books are from Russian writers.

This is one of my favorite cards, send from Tawain, untill now . It has traveled a distance of 9,606 km in 11 days. It is actually a transparent image and it's a lovely painting!

9 April 2012 - LT-198305 - Zarasai

I received my 5th card of Lithuania on 9 april. It has been 1,5 year ago when I received my last card from this country. It has traveled a distance of 1,492 km in 9 days. It shows us the capital city Vilnius. It shows us the Sint John Church.

3 April 2012 - HK - 56091 - Hong Kong

Wauw. I was so happy when I found a card from Hong Kong in my mailbox! It's my second card from this country. I received the first one in September 2009... very long ago! It has traveled a distance of 9,350 kms in 6 days! Very fast I guess! It shows us Tsim Sa Tsui in Hong Kong.



Funny fact: Those four cards I have received in the last days, are all send on 28th March. Only two of my send cards were registered on that day. I hope that this does not mean that I have to wait very long until I will get my next card! Right now I have 268 received cards and 267 sent cards.

Yesterday I found my 5th official from Belarus in my mailbox. I discovered that every official is send from Minsk. This one shows us the station square. It has traveled a distance of 1,568 km in 6 days.

And.... I got my second card on 1st April as well! This time from Germany . It is actually my 35th card from this country. It shows us Bamberg.

No, it's no joke. It is a coincidence that I write a new blog on 1 April about my return into Postcrossing. I know I have quit before, but it is always because I send so many cards, that in the end, I don't have time to put them on my blog and so on. So for now, I only send a few cards a month, in the hope I will stay in the project for a while!



The first card I have received after this break comes from.... The Netherlands . It shows us a creation of vegetables :) It has to purpose a mouse. So funny! The sender of this card also recommend me some books to read! Well, I hope my mailbox will be happy a lot of days this month ;)
