I receive a lot of long shaped card from Belarus . This one has traveled a distance of 1568 km in 15 days. It shows us a UNESCO site; Mir Castle Complex. It is my third UNESO site from this country.
"The construction of this castle began at the end of the 15th century, in Gothic style. It was subsequently extended and reconstructed, first in the Renaissance and then in the Baroque style. After being abandoned for nearly a century and suffering severe damage during the Napoleonic period, the castle was restored at the end of the 19th century, with the addition of a number of other elements and the landscaping of the surrounding area as a park. Its present form is graphic testimony to its often turbulent history."

I was so happy when I found another Rolling Stones card in my mailbox! Those are very rare for me and I was surprised when I saw this card from USA . It has traveled a distance of 7495 kms in 12 days. It shows us a card from the American tour of the Rolling Stones in 1972. Almost 40 years ago! Amazing that this band is still together.

On 17 december I found a card from Australia in my mailbox. It is my second official from this country! So special for me. It has traveled a distance of 16,229 kms in 29 days. A very long trip!
It shows us the Great Barrier Reef, which is also a UNESCO site.
The Great Barrier Reef is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia. It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc. It also holds great scientific interest as the habitat of species such as the dugong (‘sea cow’) and the large green turtle, which are threatened with extinction.

I found a lovely UNESCO site in Thailand in December. It was not only a long time ago that I have received a card from this country, its also my first UNESCO card. It has traveled a distance of 9231 km in 31 days. It shows us Wat Mahathat in Ayutthaya.
Founded c. 1350, Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai. It was destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century. Its remains, characterized by the prang (reliquary towers) and gigantic monasteries, give an idea of its past splendour. (source: UNESCO.org)
