Last summer I quit with tagging due to the fact that I was moving to another city. I didn't had time for it until the last weeks. I decided to participate in the UNESCO tag. Funny was that Elbe , somebody who has tagged me before, tagged me! He send me this lovely card which shows Everglades National Park in Florida.




"This site at the southern tip of Florida has been called 'a river of grass flowing imperceptibly from the hinterland into the sea'. The exceptional variety of its water habitats has made it a sanctuary for a large number of birds and reptiles, as well as for threatened species such as the manatee".

You Choose UNESCO tag - Poland

I received another UNESCO card from Poland send by Bodexs. This time Park Muzakowski.



A landscaped park of 559.9 ha astride the Neisse River and the border between Poland and Germany, it was created by Prince Hermann von Puckler-Muskau from 1815 to 1844. Blending seamlessly with the surrounding farmed landscape, the park pioneered new approaches to landscape design and influenced the development of landscape architecture in Europe and America. Designed as a ‘painting with plants’, it did not seek to evoke classical landscapes, paradise, or some lost perfection, instead using local plants to enhance the inherent qualities of the existing landscape. This integrated landscape extends into the town of Muskau with green passages that formed urban parks framing areas for development. The town thus became a design component in a utopian landscape. The site also features a reconstructed castle, bridges and an arboretum.

I decided to participate in the 'You Choose 3 UNESCO whs in an envelope tag' and got three different UNESCO sites from Bine from Germany .

#1 Roman Monuments, Cathedral of St Peter and Church of Our Lady in Trier



Trier, which stands on the Moselle River, was a Roman colony from the 1st century AD and then a great trading centre beginning in the next century. It became one of the capitals of the Tetrarchy at the end of the 3rd century, when it was known as the ‘second Rome’. The number and quality of the surviving monuments are an outstanding testimony to Roman civilization.

#2 Mines of Rammelsberg and Historic Town of Goslar



Situated near the Rammelsberg mines, Goslar held an important place in the Hanseatic League because of the rich Rammelsberg metallic ore deposits. From the 10th to the 12th century it was one of the seats of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. Its well-preserved medieval historic centre has some 1,500 half-timbered houses dating from the 15th to the 19th century.

#3 Monastic Island of Reichenau





The island of Reichenau on Lake Constance preserves the traces of the Benedictine monastery, founded in 724, which exercised remarkable spiritual, intellectual and artistic influence. The churches of St Mary and Marcus, St Peter and St Paul, and St George, mainly built between the 9th and 11th centuries, provide a panorama of early medieval monastic architecture in central Europe. Their wall paintings bear witness to impressive artistic activity.

You Choose UNESCO tag - Poland

I received a lot of cards via tags from Poland . Most of the time from Bodexs, like this one. It is my 10th UNESCO card and shows us the Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, which is a cultural landscape.



Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is a breathtaking cultural landscape of great spiritual significance. Its natural setting – in which a series of symbolic places of worship relating to the Passion of Jesus Christ and the life of the Virgin Mary was laid out at the beginning of the 17th century – has remained virtually unchanged. It is still today a place of pilgrimage.

You choose UNESCO whs - Poland

This beautiful card was send by Bodex, from Poland via the you choose unesco wsh tag. It shows the castle of Malbork.



This 13th-century fortified monastery belonging to the Teutonic Order was substantially enlarged and embellished after 1309, when the seat of the Grand Master moved here from Venice. A particularly fine example of a medieval brick castle, it later fell into decay, but was meticulously restored in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of the conservation techniques now accepted as standard were evolved here. Following severe damage in the Second World War it was once again restored, using the detailed documentation prepared by earlier conservators.

You choose Unesco Tag - Russia

I received this on via the You Choose Unesco Tag from Marinella from Russia . It shows White Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal, actually this is Suzdal.




These two artistic centres in central Russia hold an important place in the country's architectural history. There are a number of magnificent 12th- and 13th-century public and religious buildings, above all the masterpieces of the Collegiate Church of St Demetrios and the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin.

Unesco Tag - Russia

I'm trying to get more UNESCO site via different tags/round robins. I received a new one from Russia via the UNESCO tag from Miledi. It is my fifth UNESCO site from Russia . It shows White Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal

You Choose UNESCO whs tag - Poland

I really like this one, which I received from Poland . It was send by Bodexs. It shows us the UNESCO site Białowieża Forest, which is situated in Belarus and Poland. This is the Polish part.

Situated on the watershed of the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, this immense forest range, consisting of evergreens and broad-leaved trees, is home to some remarkable animal life, including rare mammals such as the wolf, the lynx and the otter, as well as some 300 European Bison, a species which has been reintroduced into the park.

You Choose Unseco tag - China

China has a lot of UNESCO sites. Unfortunatley I do not receive them very often and that is a pity because China .is a beautiful country. Via the 'you choose UNESCO tag' I tagged mightystar from China. I receveid this lovely card from the Classical Gardens of Suzhou. It looks really peacefull!



Classical Chinese garden design, which seeks to recreate natural landscapes in miniature, is nowhere better illustrated than in the nine gardens in the historic city of Suzhou. They are generally acknowledged to be masterpieces of the genre. Dating from the 11th-19th century, the gardens reflect the profound metaphysical importance of natural beauty in Chinese culture in their meticulous design.

You Choose Unseco Tag - France

Via the you choose unesco tag, I recevied this unesco card from France by Laure_ny512. It shows us the Note-Dame Cathedral in Amiens. It was built in 1220.



Amiens Cathedral, in the heart of Picardy, is one of the largest 'classic' Gothic churches of the 13th century. It is notable for the coherence of its plan, the beauty of its three-tier interior elevation and the particularly fine display of sculptures on the principal facade and in the south transept.

You choose UNESCO whs site tag - Finland

With Christmas, I had some days off so I spend some time on the postcrossing forum to tag in the unescotags. This is one of the cards I received last week. It was send by Msmoney from Finland . The card shows us the high coast in Finland.



The Kvarken Archipelago (Finland) and the High Coast (Sweden) are situated in the Gulf of Bothnia, a northern extension of the Baltic Sea. The 5,600 islands of the Kvarken Archipelago feature unusual ridged washboard moraines, ‘De Geer moraines’, formed by the melting of the continental ice sheet, 10,000 to 24,000 years ago. The Archipelago is continuously rising from the sea in a process of rapid glacio-isostatic uplift, whereby the land, previously weighed down under the weight of a glacier, lifts at rates that are among the highest in the world. As a consequence islands appear and unite, peninsulas expand, and lakes evolve from bays and develop into marshes and peat fens. The High Coast has also been largely shaped by the combined processes of glaciation, glacial retreat and the emergence of new land from the sea. Since the last retreat of the ice from the High Coast 9,600 years ago, the uplift has been in the order of 285 m which is the highest known ''rebound''. The site affords outstanding opportunities for the understanding of the important processes that formed the glaciated and land uplift areas of the Earth''s surface.

UNESCO Tag - Malaysia

I received two UNESCO sites in one when I got this card from Slliew from Malaysia . It shows George Town and the Taman Kinabulu in Kinabalu park. There is only one UNESCO site of Malaysia left.




Kinabalu Park, in the State of Sabah on the northern end of the island of Borneo, is dominated by Mount Kinabalu (4,095 m), the highest mountain between the Himalayas and New Guinea. It has a very wide range of habitats, from rich tropical lowland and hill rainforest to tropical mountain forest, sub-alpine forest and scrub on the higher elevations. It has been designated as a Centre of Plant Diversity for Southeast Asia and is exceptionally rich in species with examples of flora from the Himalayas, China, Australia, Malaysia, as well as pan-tropical flora.

Melaka and George Town, historic cities of the Straits of Malacca have developed over 500 years of trading and cultural exchanges between East and West in the Straits of Malacca. The influences of Asia and Europe have endowed the towns with a specific multicultural heritage that is both tangible and intangible. With its government buildings, churches, squares and fortifications, Melaka demonstrates the early stages of this history originating in the 15th-century Malay sultanate and the Portuguese and Dutch periods beginning in the early 16th century. Featuring residential and commercial buildings, George Town represents the British era from the end of the 18th century. The two towns constitute a unique architectural and cultural townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia.

UNESCO Tag - China

Sometimes I like to tag in the UNESCO tag to receive some new UNESCO sites. I receive not as many unesco site via the officials as I thought. This time Dengbin from China tagged me back and send me this great card from the unesco site three parallel rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas. This is one of the three rivers.



Consisting of eight geographical clusters of protected areas within the boundaries of the Three Parallel Rivers National Park, in the mountainous north-west of Yunnan Province, the 1.7 million hectare site features sections of the upper reaches of three of the great rivers of Asia: the Yangtze (Jinsha), Mekong and Salween run roughly parallel, north to south, through steep gorges which, in places, are 3,000 m deep and are bordered by glaciated peaks more than 6,000 m high. The site is an epicentre of Chinese biodiversity. It is also one of the richest temperate regions of the world in terms of biodiversity.

Netherlands Tag - China

I received this beautiful card from the Potala Palace in China via the Netherlands tag from Caofan. It is an UNESCO site and it is the second UNESCO site I received from China!



The Potala Palace, winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century, symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional administration of Tibet. The complex, comprising the White and Red Palaces with their ancillary buildings, is built on Red Mountain in the centre of Lhasa Valley, at an altitude of 3,700m. Also founded in the 7th century, the Jokhang Temple Monastery is an exceptional Buddhist religious complex. Norbulingka, the Dalai Lama's former summer palace, constructed in the 18th century, is a masterpiece of Tibetan art. The beauty and originality of the architecture of these three sites, their rich ornamentation and harmonious integration in a striking landscape, add to their historic and religious interest.

Another Wishlist tag - Indonesia

This beautiful card was send by shinta from Indonesia via the Another Wistlist tag. It shows the Borobudur, the largest buddhist temple and it is an UNESCO world heritage site.



This famous Buddhist temple, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, is located in central Java. It was built in three tiers: a pyramidal base with five concentric square terraces, the trunk of a cone with three circular platforms and, at the top, a monumental stupa. The walls and balustrades are decorated with fine low reliefs, covering a total surface area of 2,500 m². Around the circular platforms are 72 openwork stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha. The monument was restored with UNESCO's help in the 1970s.

You Choose Unesco - Germany

Last Friday I received this beautiful UNESCO card from Appelveichen from Germany via the U Choose UNESCO tag. It shows the city Regensburg.

"Located on the Danube River in Bavaria, this medieval town contains many buildings of exceptional quality that testify to its history as a trading centre and to its influence on the region from the 9th century. A notable number of historic structures span some two millennia and include ancient Roman, Romanesque and Gothic buildings. Regensburg’s 11th- to 13th-century architecture – including the market, city hall and cathedral – still defines the character of the town marked by tall buildings, dark and narrow lanes, and strong fortifications. The buildings include medieval patrician houses and towers, a large number of churches and monastic ensembles as well as the 12th-century Old Bridge, which dates from. The town is also remarkable for the vestiges testifing to its rich history as one of the centres of the Holy Roman Empire that turned to Protestantism."

Russia - Rest the World Tag - Russia

Last Friday I received a beautiful nightview from Moscow! It was send by Citynettle from Russia . I have been to Moscow in January to attend the Worldchampionship Sprint speedskating. It was an amazing experience and I'm very happy that I took the chance to visit Moscow and watch the sport I really like. We did some sightseeing as well. We went to the Kremlin, Red Square and Novodevichy Monastry. On this postcard you see some different things of Moscow by night. I really like it to receive cards from places I have been to!

Miffy/Something Else Tag - Japan

I have bought some Miffy card a few weeks ago and I was happy when I discoverd the Miffy/something else tag so I could send them away and receive something back from my wishlist. I received a very beautiful card from Japan. It is an UNESCO world heritage site; the Kinkaku-Ji Temple in Kyoto! It was send by Yamimi. Thanks for this beautiful card.



"Built in A.D. 794 on the model of the capitals of ancient China, Kyoto was the imperial capital of Japan from its foundation until the middle of the 19th century. As the centre of Japanese culture for more than 1,000 years, Kyoto illustrates the development of Japanese wooden architecture, particularly religious architecture, and the art of Japanese gardens, which has influenced landscape gardening the world over."

UNESCO Tag - Japan

Because I collect UNESCO sites, I decided to join the UNESCO tag! I was tagged by Yuki3 from Japan and yesterday I found this beautiful card in my mailbox! It showws the Himeji-jo Castle. It's on the list since 1993! It is my first UNESCO card from Japan . You can find my collection here.

"Himeji-jo is the finest surviving example of early 17th-century Japanese castle architecture, comprising 83 buildings with highly developed systems of defence and ingenious protection devices dating from the beginning of the Shogun period. It is a masterpiece of construction in wood, combining function with aesthetic appeal, both in its elegant appearance unified by the white plastered earthen walls and in the subtlety of the relationships between the building masses and the multiple roof layers."

Miffy/Something Else Tag - Germany

Last week I discover 'tagging'. A nice way to exert an influence on what kind of cards you get! I bought some Miffy cards a few weeks ago and I saw a 'Miffy/something Else tag'. Because I know Miffy very well (her 'father' is the Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna), I decided to join with my Miffy cards! As soon as I tagged someone who lives Japan, JaniD from Germany tagged me back. Today I received a very nice and lovely card from 'Lillyfee'


Lillyfee is a childrensbook illustration. There are movies of this nice character as well. I did not know Lillyfee until I got this card. She is lovely, isn't she? The card has some sparkles as well, but you can not see this on the photograph. And... I love the cute ladybird! This card has made me smile today :D
